Hi, I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat MS ENT
It sounds like you have asymmetry in your external auditory canals (EACs), with dryness and a sensation of fullness on the left side, possibly accompanied by eczema or localized folliculitis (pimple-like lesions).
This could be due to:
• Eczema of the ear canal (common in dry skin types)
• Chronic otitis externa (mild)
• Seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis (if recurrent)
• Anatomical narrowing (congenital or acquired) leading to more irritation or blockage.
Next Steps
Suggested Approach:
• Moisturize the ear canal gently with light mineral oil or olive oil drops (2–3 drops once daily).
• If irritation persists, use a mild steroid-antibiotic ear drop (e.g., Sofradex or Ciplox-D) for 5–7 days (only after ENT consultation).
• Avoid inserting earbuds or scratching inside the ear.
• Protect the ear from water during bathing (use Vaseline-coated cotton if needed).
• Periodic ENT cleaning may be needed due to the smaller left ear canal.
