It could be a condition called alopecia areata, a photograph of the area can make it easy to diagnose. It usually happens due to reduced immunity/ auto immunity in which the hair follicles are attacked by the body it self leading to loss of patchy hair. You may require a local triamcinolone injection and application of few lotions to improve the area.
