Gum Bleeding

2016-09-04 20:27:06
I am 22yr old, female. I am an occasional drinker and smoker. I am experiencing very frequent gum bleeding recently. Earlier during January I got myself checked by a dentist who suggested scaling and usual oral hygiene methods. It did help stop the bleeding but it's starting again and its frequent. Is it something serious or will another session of scaling help!?

bleeding gums at such a young age is not a good sign.  get your gums checked by a gum specialist (periodontist) & please follow all the basic hygiene instructions given by the dentist. Do you brush your teeth twice a day? do you floss your teeth regularly? Is your brushing technique improper which is damaging your gums?? look into these factors as well. Hope this helps

Kindly see a Periodontist. If there is a periodontal involvement, u might need more than just scaling. As you are quite young, bleeding gums should be taken more seriously.

Bleeding gums is considered to be the most objective sign of gum disease, if the oral hygiene measures adopted by an individual are not adequate it may result into bleeding gums.Generally plaque/calculus deposition causes inflammation in gums that causes bleeding, so complete removal of the same should be intended followed by extensive measures to maintain oral hygiene. Please visit a Periodontist nearby to know the severity and treatment protocol to be followed. Thank you.

Hello, Would suggest you get an OPG x-ray done to assess the underlyieng bone levels of all the teeth. As you are an occassional smoker the tobacco byproducts tends to cause inflammation of the gums at a faster rate than non smokers, Deep Scaling/currettage and polishing are definitely recommended.
