Hi, my wife is 8th month pregnant and her Glucose tolerance test results shows a value of 157, what does it mean, does she has diabetes or may be affected in future.pls reply. TIA
Oral glucose tolerance test was it done with 75 grams of glucose ? If yes more than 140 suggests gestational diabetes mellitus.
A few percentage of women who have gestational diabetes mellitus will get diabetes in future.
Next Steps
1)Diet, exercise and medications as advised by physician.
2) Post delivery yearly once Hba1c to rule out diabetes .
