Gap between IUI and IVF cycle

Recently I have done my 3rd IUI on 30th August doctor said if it fails then we have to go for IVF. For some reason we can't immediately go for IVF next month. Wanted to know if it is ok to have gap of 2-3 months between IUI & IVF?
