Asymptomatic gallstones  do not need treatment. However ,certain medical conditions and medications con predispose to gallstone formation .Multiple small gallstones and presence of biliary sludge also needs intervention .If the gallbladder is contracted or nonfunctioning,again intervention  in form of surgery is needed .please get a gastroenterologists openion.
