Gall stones/ cholelithiasis is a common condition seen in women of your age. The size of your gall stones (6-8mm) and the presence of multiple stones indicate that the gallbladder itself is not functioning well. This needs to be corrected by surgery. The gall stones that you have can very easily result in many other complications, and therefore are better treated early. Today, laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a very common surgery, with very little postoperative pain/discomfort, in the right hands. It usually involves a hospital stay of 1-2 days only. For further discussion, please contact a laparoscopic surgeon, who will be able to explain to you in further detail and plan the right management for you.
