DX – (if nec) CBC, nasal smear for eosinophils, Sputum GS/Cx, CXR

TX – Fluids Decongestants: Medium: Afrin nasal spray, 0.05, 2-3 sprays/nostril q12h Strong: Mometasone or Fluticasone nasal: 50 mcg/spray, 2 sprays/nostril qd Also: Pseudoephedrine 60 mg PO q4-6h prn Expectorants: Mild: Benzonatate, Guaifenesin/Dextromethorphan Medium: Promethazine with Codeine, 6.25/10/5 mL, 5 mL PO q4-6h prn Strong: Chlorpheniramine/Hydrocodone, 8/10/5 mL ER susp, 5 mL PO q12h Antihistamines: Cetirizine 10 mg PO qd Fexofenadine 180 mg PO qd Loratadine 10 mg PO qd Antibiotics: (if there is colored sputum) Medium: Azithromycin, 500 mg PO x1 on day 1, then 250 mg PO q24h x4 days Strong: Levofloxacin, 750 mg PO/IV q24h x5 days, Augmentin 500/125 BID for 5 days
