Breast milk is best for the baby. However when you are unable to breastfeed, you may opt for formula.
Between 1 to 2 months of age , babies may take anywhere between 75-100 ml at one feed. (They may take less if you are breastfeeding also) They may take 7-8 feeds in the entire day, with a gap of 2.5-3 hrs.
The quantity and interval of feeds is not fixed. You have to catch the early hunger cues. When your baby’s hungry he will turn his head and open his mouth toward your chest or make sucking movements of lips or bring his hands towards his mouth. If you wait until your baby starts crying, its late, he may be too upset to feed. Offer bottle at the first hunger cues. Also, keep a watch for cues that he's full such as slowing down or resting.
