If the pain is still persisting in the tooth that indicates there might be some underlying infection that needs to be rectified. You can upload the x-ray so that it is clear and a better diagnosis can be made.
As far as the long-term prognosis is concerned it is not at all related to cancer as such. The worst that can happen is that if infection is too much we might have to remove the tooth. So do not worry it’s not at all cancerous but yes it needs a treatment definitely
