Scaling is a preventive treatment and I would advice all my patients to undergo scaling periodically. It definitely doesn't grind or destroy the tooth structure but removes the debris which may get hard or calcified with time.

No,Scaling doesn't wear off the enamel. It just removes the stains and deposits on your teeth. Usually, scaling is recommended once a year. But,if a person posess some habits such as smoking,tobacco/pan chewing, etc or have bad oral hygeine then it should be maintained at once every 8 months.
Next Steps
To prevent deposition of plaque, calculus and stains, brush twice a day i.e, morning and night with soft tooth brush in a circular motion.

No there wont be any enamel loss after scaling. Frequency of scaling depends upon your oral hygiene if its good then yearly scaling is sufficient.
