I am 31, my testo and estro levels are normal. But I have been facing erectile dysfunction for the last 2 years. Pills give me side effects. My doctor suggested to take shockwave therapy. Is it effective? How many sessions will I need to get rock hard erection? Is the result lifelong? Are there any alternatives to pills? Plz advice

Hi, Shockwave has not been much successful. Also this is not the permanent solution that you have been looking for your issue. Does it happen you get little Erection you feel you should go in and the moment you try to enter it goes down and it’s not hard enough for you to penetrate? Sometimes even if you penetrate you seem to lose your Erection soon? At some point in a man’s life, he may have difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection. Erection problems occur when you can’t achieve or maintain an erection that’s firm enough to have sexual intercourse. Erection problems are also known as: * erectile dysfunction (ED) * impotence * sexual dysfunction In your case I believe you have developed symptoms of Erectile dysfunction. However this issue is not a major problem to worry as there are medications and treatment available for the same. Rest assured your problem can be resolved.

There is no definitive research evidence regarding effectiveness of shockwave therapy if it actually works. Most large studies have shown SWT results in zero or only small improvements in ED. Often, out-of-pocket costs may be high. Also, there is a lot of misinformation and advertising on SWT especially by self-proclaimed or underqualified sexologists. If you still vouch for it, 5-6 sessions needed over a period of 3 months and there is no data regarding long term benefits of same.
Next Steps
Consult a Urologist (MCh Urosurgery) preferably in a reputed multispeciality government hospital or medical college for other viable non-pharmacological treatment.
Health Tips
Eating more of salads, fruits, nuts and less of high calorie food items like rice, potatoes, and those made out of rice/wheat flour and potatoes. Exercise daily at least for 45 minutes. Kegel exercises helps to an extent. Weight reduction and dietary modification helps a lot.
