Edema both legs swelling

From past two weeks my grandfather suffering from leg swelling both legs water discharge from legs.unable to walk and he his chronic alcoholic.

We need to rule out liver disease first as he is a chronic alcoholic. Need to investigate in details !

Swelling of leg - is 2 type as 1- Pitting edema and 2nd is non - Pitting edema. So take consultation first cause i required complete history.
