What is the main cause of corneal ectasia? Do every steep cornea but having good thickness developes ectasia?
I have 582 and 576 pre operative corneal thickness and mean K value of 48.00 and 46.20 in OD and OS respectively. My keratometry readings are stable after 4 months follow up and accoring to pentacam color diagrams. Doctor said my cornea is steep but has stable readings and have very good corneal thickness. My right eye has -6 -2.75*170° and left eye has -4 -2.5*170° power with BCVA 6/9. Now I will undergo femto second lasik with having 390 and 350 corneal thickness remaining after the surgery in right and left eye respectively. Now I want to ask that is there any chance that I will develop corneal ectasia post femto lasik?

A. Steep cornea is not risk factor for ectasia
Keratoconus is a disease which is risk factor for ectasia..here also cornea is steep
So all steep corneas are not keratoconus and so all steep corneas don't develop ectasia
B. Ectasia may develop even in normal person after Lasik even with good thickness...but risk is very very less
