I have high myopia with -14 power in both the eyes. I went for an eye checkup and doctor told me I have early post cortical changes in my eyes for cataract. He said he is not sure if this is from birth. What is the probability this is from birth, and how quickly will the cataract progress.

High Myopia may cause cataract .it is better to consult with ophthalmologist with detailed history and reports and treatment taken for better evaluation and treatment.

High myopics can develop cataract. If the cataract is from birth then it may not progress. It's being there since childhood depends upon the type seen under magnification of the machine in clinic. Please follow up with your Dr for proper management.
