Impacted wax in the ear can cause reduced hearing and irritation in the ear. If it gets infected then can lead to pain and swelling in the ear canal called Otitis Externa. If this infection is severe then the pain can radiate to neck region and head. Impaction of wax is in the external ear whereas Issues of the middle ear will lead to problems in the throat and nose.

Using ear buds can lead to more problems than any help. Avoid cleaning ears on your own. Seek a doctor if there is any such issues.
