Ive been diagnosed with Dysthymia for over 2 years now and been on an off lithosun sr and some therapy but it did not work... One year of Lithium gave me psoriasis besides making me bloated and foggy all the time. My question is Why can't I get over dysthymia without medication? What is your course of treatment for dysthymia?

Dysthymia is persistent low mood with mild depressive symptoms for two or more years! It is treatable with Psychotherapy combined with medications, if need be. It is good that you have insight about your disorder which will be helpful to you for recovery. It will need to be ascertained whether your condition is due to endogenous factors or exogenous. Consult a Clinical Psychologist for a detailed evaluation and treatment plan. Psychotherapy is indicated for persistent depressive disorder.
