Duration to take thyroid medication

I have started thyroid medication 25 mg from Jan'2021 as my TSH was 12.75. Now my thyroid is well under control. So, I want to know whether I have to take thyroid medicine life long or can stop after some time?

U have overt primary hypothyroidism. It can be postinfectious or autoimmune in origin. If post infectious then u need to take only 1 to 2 years as per consultant advice. If autoimmune then treatment is lifelong..
