I am facing domestic violence from my husband. He has agreed to visit a doctor for this. We would want to visit a doctor for this. I wanted to know should I take my husband to a psychiatrist or a psychologist?

If there is anything suggestive of a Psychotic Disorder, then you must consult a Psychiatrist. The suggestive symptoms can be like "hearing and responding to voices not heard by others", "undue suspiciousness", "unusual beliefs", and gross neglect of self. If it is merely a relationship problem, you should consult a Clinical Psychologist. In case of any confusion, you may consult a Psychiatrist first, who will be able to diagnose or rule out a Psychiatric Disorder and then decide further course.
