I think my mother is having clinical depression from 2 years. I have witnessed such events where she doesn't respond when called or starts crying suddenly or laughing.

I think ur mom is suffering from psychotic disorder, not depression. Can u provide more history of ur mother??? Does she have any suspicious on family members or other people??? Does she hear voices that other's can't? Any other disorganized behaviour or speech??? What is the duration of illness?? If all of above is there, then ur mom is suffering from schizophrenia.
