Depression does make you go through lots of negative thoughts often irrational, but automatic, leading to negative feelings, hopelessness, lack of energy, motivation, enjoyment, concentration including impaired sleep, appetite etc. It is important to find the underlying cause, severity of depression and the impact, which will help to determine appropriate treatment. You will benefit from cognitive behavior therapy to develop some techniques and skills to overcome negative thoughts and feelings. Severe symptoms will need medicine. Lifestyle changes like yoga, meditation, practicing mindfulness will also help. Consult a psychiatrist in person if things are not improving. Regards
