As such, as a general rule, medications only provide temporary symptomatic relief and do not cure any dental problem. Sometimes it is not very easy to point to the exact area of pain.
The pain can be in the same tooth if it has got Re infected (which can happen in a few cases even after root canal treatment) or it could be in any of the adjacent teeth over the gums area which is causing diffuse kind of pain near the area where previously treatment was done. The best way to differentiate this would be on the basis of a proper clinical examination and an x-ray of that region.
So the most prudent step would be to visit a dentist and get the X-ray done.
