Dengue and Typhoid

My friend was diagnosed with Dengue and TYPHOID 5 days back. And yesterday she was admitted to a hospital and has been on drips. Platelet count was 90k yesterday. The doctor have told her not to eat any hard food and kept her on liquid intakes. Is this the normally followed treatment practice?
