Spotting instead of a full period, especially with your history of taking emergency contraceptive pills, means a
pregnancy test is the first thing to rule out. Beyond that, delayed cycles without weight gain, acne or excess hair can still come from a
thyroid or
prolactin imbalance, not only PCOS, so a hormonal cause is still very possible even without those symptoms.
Next Steps
Take a home
pregnancy test if you haven't already. If it's negative, ask your gynaecologist for a
thyroid,
prolactin and pelvic ultrasound workup to find the actual cause.
Health Tips
See a doctor sooner if the spotting turns heavier or you develop pelvic pain.
