It depends on the person, on an average 7-10 days hospitalised treatment needed and after that how long to continue maintenance treatment depends on the cause of clot, body weight,age and gender of patient, and how soon  the patient is ambulated (moving by their on). In her case she has already been  delivering a baby and that itself require bed rest for her to come back to normal activities, so it may take another 30-60 days mostly to fully recover.

Usually 6 months treatment. Also can be switched to tablets.
