Daily Acyclovir for Oral Herpes

I've had oral herpes since I was a kid (9,10 yrs old). I have breakouts 1-2 times a year and have a refillable prescription for Acyclovir. I was wondering about taking it daily to help prevent future breakouts and spread. Would that be advisable? How many pills should I take in a day?
