Cutting tongue while eating or sleeping

My mother is 62 year old since last 2 years she doesn't seems herself. She oftenly cuts her tongue while sleeping or eating. She has kinda devloped a fear of eating anything. She wil like to eat in a place where no one disturb her otherwise she can cut her tongue. She is not gaining any weight lately. I just wanted to know is this anxiety related? Or anything else
