Did u have any relief with the inhalers or Razo-D? How is your appetite? Have u lost any weight? Any fever or night sweats? Do u get any sputum with cough? Sonu get any choking? Any hoarse voice?
In chronic, dry cough, acid reflux and asthma are sometimes responsible. To treat acid reflux, avoid spicy foods, avoid smoking and citrus drinks and alcohol. Give 3-4 hrs gap after dinner before sleeping and use extra pillow. Use acid blocking meds like Sompraz 40mg once daily before breakfast for 1 month. Avoid certain pain killers. If the inhalers or nebulizers didn’t help, then asthma is unlikely.
If no improvement, u need further evaluation like blood tests, CT chest and other tests as mentioned below.
Next Steps
Use medicines to reduce acid as mentioned above. And diet as mentioned.
If no improvement, then you should get CBP, ESR, sputum tests, CT scan chest, ECG and 2D echo. Endoscopy may also be indicated if u continue to get burps and cannot eat.
