Cough for almost a month now

My son is 2.5 years older, he had cold and cough a month ago or so and since then he is getting cough twice or thrice a day specially while waking up from sleep, pls suggest what could be the reason and how can we get it clear

Proper nose, throat check up with auscultation of chest by expert, mostly underlying inflammation is not going in nose, posterior part of Nasopharynx, airways stimulated by irritants.
