Cough...congestion in chest

Hiiii...my husband is 35 years old... From one week he is suffering from wet cough..he took proper medicine, syrup but not cured properly... Feeling congestion in chest which not  properly comes  outside... He put force to spit it out...he has also taken some home remedies to get rid of it like ginger honey.,But nothing worked... What should he do. ..
