Cough and Sneeze in newborns are pretty much normal phenomenon, untill and unless there is no accompanying fever or no change in Feeding or Activity or Sleep pattern on baby.
Normally, after feeding, baby vomits sometimes. This leads to passage of Gastric contents into Nose and Respiratory Tract.
Sneezing is protective reflex, and baby tries to clear out waste and milk accumulated in nasal passage.
Now, coming down to coughing, coughing is also a kind of protective reflex, by which baby tries to clear throat.
Now, when to worry?
If coughing is severe, leading to disturbance in Feeding or Activity Or Sleep pattern of baby Or accompanied by fever Or if there is increase in Respiratory rate above 60/min, then you should and you must visit your pediatrician.
Hope this helps.
