Hello,
The agony of a broken heart, or a relationship break is one of the worst feeling someone at your age and stage of life one can experience. However in the initial or early few months of the event, such feelings are usual and please wait for time to help you and in the meantime you can follow these steps-
1. Do not isolate yourself, please try to be around people who care about you like family/friends.
2. Eat healthy, do not resort to alcohol or drugs, they would not be of help.
3. Maintain a regular routine of regular sleeping and waking times, as well as do not encroach self with pity.
4. Engage in some light physical activity like jogging, walk, yoga, dance etc.
5. Pursue some hobby of your choice, at some times being in a relationship we forget to maintain our regular hobbies, now is a good time to rekindle those.
6. Please remember the age old adage " this too shall pass."
7. Rebound relationship is a bad idea, skip the thought.
8. Share your feelings and experience with some trusted friend or family member.
9. Do not keep scrolling over past memories of mobile/photos/letters etc.
However if you have any of these problems please seek professional help as soon as possible-
1. Ideas of self harm or ending life
2. The symptoms have been persistent despite a significant time having elapsed
3. Impairment in day to day functioning being marked and obvious
4. Frequently breaking down, and crying episodes..
5. Impairment in self care like eating, bathing, etc.
If you have any of the above please meet a Psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist near you for assessment and treatment..
Hope this helps you. Best wishes for your health and future..
