Confused for vaccine brands
I am taking booster doses after exposure to a cat. I received a 0.5 mL( abhyrab) dose on day 0. On day 3, I couldn't get the same vaccine brand, so I received a different brand was Rabivax-S 1 mL. Both are Vero cell rabies vaccines.
Is it safe to take them this way?harm ful for immunity??
Yes, this is completely safe. Both Abhyrab and Rabivax-S are purified Vero cell rabies vaccines and are considered interchangeable â WHO and Indian guidelines confirm that different brands of the same type of rabies vaccine can be used in the same course without any reduction in effectiveness or safety. Your immunity will not be affected. The key is maintaining the correct schedule (Day 0, 3, 7, 14 etc.) rather than using the same brand throughout.
