The report of bone marrow biopsy and bcr abl is attached alongwith. Doctor has prescribed dasatinib 100mg but I have read a lot that imatinib is given as first line of therapy. Why doctor has prescribed dasatinib as first line of therapy? Also I have read dasatinib lowers the platelet level below normal range. Is it true? And if in case in future dasatinib didn't work will there be any another drug or not( like if a person is intolerant to imatinib than dasatinib is preferred but in our case we have started with dasatinib so I am worried if my father gets intolerant to this what will be option left? I don't want to lose my father. Please help

Hi please be assured. Dasatinib has lower chance of progression to next phase. So starting dasatinib is not wrong. Dasatinib can reduce platelets count but not everyone will get severe thrombocytopenia. most of the times mild to moderate.
