Chronic cough with mucus and lung pain

Hi , I have chronic cough with mucus and also having lung inflammation on only the left part of the lung. Previously I had the cough with mucus but intensity was less. Recently since past 6 months . Cough with mucus intensity increased and lung inflammation in the left side. Do I need to do pulmonary function test ?
