Chest muscles fractured in car accident

My dad met with a car accident 2 days back on Friday. His chest muscles are fractured and nose bone is fractured. He was admitted in hospital and discharged today but doctor only prescribed antibiotics and painkillers..doctor didnt tell what all precautions needs to be taken and hot or cold formentation and how much time will it take to recover.. plz help me to let me know how it can be recovered soon.

Cool pack will work preferably.apply rib belt it will give more comfort.but you should show chest xray first

Chest ribs can fracture and muscles get bruised. They heal by themselves no special effort needed. But it takes 3 to 4 weeks minimum for pain to improve. The only care you can take is to avoid getting cold and cough. Steam inhalation only 2 to 3 times a day. Do not manipulate the fractures. Getting ice packs or hot packs whatever suits the skin of the person. Ideal try Ice first. If he is not tolerating it then hot water
