Hi. If the diagnosis of cataract has been confirmed and her cataract does interfere in her daily activities, it maybe ready for surgery. Prerequisite for surgery is adequate control of Diabetes. So if its controlled, there really isnt much to worry about. Briefly, there are a few ways to operate upon the cataract. Phacoemulsification is the commonest and most used method nowadays. femto second phacoemulsification is also done. Older methods like Small incision cataract surgery and extracapsular cataract extraction are rarely done nowadays.
