Cat scratched

2025-06-20 09:13:45
Hello sir, I was scratched lightly by my pet cat 10 days ago.  I started the ID rabies vaccine the next day (Day 1) with TT. and have received 3 doses so far (on Day 0, 4, and 7). I took first vaccine after 24 hours but before 30 hours. And second dose i had on 15th june but i took on 16th june due to sunday. I took third dose on date on 19th june. But doctor didn't prescribed of day 14dose. He prescribed 0,3,7,28. Is it correct dose? Today, day number 10.  my cat suddenly became very sick — she is not eating, very weak, sometimes showing seizure-like movements, and making sounds as if in pain. There is no foam from the mouth, but her condition seems serious. He was normal at that time, when she scratched me little. And still normal till yesterday night. But she got sick since today morning. Kindly advise: - What precautions should I take next? I went to veterinary doctor, he said  its not rabbies its neurological problem. And her tempreture is low too.

Cat’s Symptoms: Should You Worry? Although the vet suspects a neurological problem, you should remain alert because: Rabies can appear late in animals Neurological changes in animals post-bite/scratch should always be taken seriously 🟡 Precautions You Should Take Now: Continue and complete vaccine on Day 28 If bite was deep or on head/neck → ensure Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG) was given (within 7 days of first vaccine) Observe the cat for a total of 10 days from scratch day If cat dies or worsens → inform your doctor immediately Sample may be tested for rabies (brain tissue after death) Don’t skip final dose on Day 28 📘 Reference: Harrison’s Manual of Medicine: Rabies PEP after category II/III exposure includes 0, 3, 7, 28 ID schedule and RIG if indicated. Observation of the animal is recommended for 10 days. Would you like a printable Day-wise rabies vaccination tracker or symptom monitor checklist for animal observation? Mark HELPFUL
