My brother had second epilepsy attack on 8 March.So we consultanted neurologist on 9 th March and he had prescribed oxcarbazepine 300 mg 1 morning and 1 evening, and benzodiazepine MD 5 mg 1 evening. since l2 months he is on this medicine. So should we continue this medicine or should we stop the same.He did not have any epilepsy episodes after starting medication

Yes it needs proper work up n tapering if required but sudden stoppage causes breakthrough seizures which r more dangerous. So it’s not only for prevention but it maintains neuronal activity stable
