Can my mother take calcium tablets 1 or 2 daily?? Do they have any side effects?? Any particular name of calcium tabs would u recommend?

Hello there. I can understand your concern. Since you have mentioned her age to be around 50 years, it's a menopausal age. In menopausal age calcium and vitamin D3 supplementation is recommended to avoid osteoporosis. Take one tablet of supracal pro after food daily for a month. Don't need to continue the next month. Then start again for another month. Ask her to sit in the sun for about 20 minutes before 12. That would give her good amount of vitamin D3. Best regards. Dr. Anil Kumar Jain.

what is her age? calcium tablet must be taken only once daily after food. excess of calcium intake do have side effects as milk alkali syndrome,excessive fatigue,tiredness,nausea and others. calcium tablets are contraindicated in some cases. So, I would suggest about tablet calcium only after knowing about all the detailed history of your mother.

Yes she can take shelcal 500 mg tabs once a day. It is advisable to take calcium after menopause to avoid osteoporosis.
