2025-07-14 05:22:27
Hi, Attaching my father's NCCT KUB report in which there is an incidental finding of "Calcified plaque seen in aorta". Please suggest if this Calcified plaque in aorta is mild, moderate or severe?? Is there any risk of blockage in abdominal aorta or aortic aneurysm?? My father's age is 75 years.

The finding of a “calcified plaque in the aorta” is a common, age-related change seen in many elderly individuals, especially above the age of 70. At this stage, it does not necessarily indicate a serious blockage or aneurysm, especially if it’s noted incidentally and not mentioned in the “Impression” section of the report. However, for a more accurate assessment (whether it’s mild, moderate, or severe), and to rule out any vascular risk, it would be best to consult a cardiothoracic or vascular surgeon, who may advise a Doppler ultrasound or CT angiography if needed. Please don’t worry — these are usually slow-progressing changes and manageable with regular monitoring, lifestyle modifications, and medical care.
