C1-C2 AtlantoAxial rotatory subluxation

Hello, I had C1-C2 AtlantoAxial rotatory subluxation a year and a half ago and I was operated for it, now the implementation is giving trouble and I have movement completely restricted towards right side of neck. My surgeon says if the hardware is giving too much trouble then we might need to remove it. What are the risks of hardware removal?

The basic risk of surgery does exist in any surgical intervention. Please consult your operating surgeon for further discussion.
