I am a maxillofacial surgeon. Kindly go by the advice of your doctor. If it is occuring and rupturing repeatedly then it is definitely a mucocele. It needs to be surgically removed along with the associated salivary gland (excisional biopsy) . The cyst after removal can be sent for histopathology. No need to worry, it doesn't turn into a cancer.
