Brown discharge

2026-07-18 14:38:34
My period started with spotting and since then I have been having brown discharge for about a week. The discharge is mostly watery, sticky white discharge mixed with brown blood, sometimes with small jelly-like brown clumps. It is light and only stains my panty liner. I have no severe pain, heavy bleeding, itching, bad smell, or fever. I had a similar issue in 2024 due to hormonal imbalance, which improved after taking Meprate. Could this be hormonal imbalance again, or should I get any tests done?

Brown discharge at the beginning or end of a period is often due to old blood and may occur because of temporary hormonal imbalance. Since you do not have heavy bleeding, severe pain, fever, foul-smelling discharge, or itching, it is less suggestive of an acute infection. If you are sexually active, do a urine pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy. If the discharge persists beyond this cycle or keeps recurring, a detailed evaluation with a pelvic ultrasound and hormonal investigations (such as CBC, TSH, serum prolactin, and others if indicated) may be required. Avoid taking Meprate without medical advice. For a detailed assessment and personalized treatment plan, you may connect with me through an online consultation.
