Occasional deep sighing breaths with visible stomach/diaphragm movement in a 5-year-old without other symptoms is usually benign (sighing dyspnea or normal breathing variation). However, any breathing irregularity in a child should be properly evaluated to rule out early asthma or other causes.
Next Steps
Note the frequency and any triggers (exercise, sleep, meals). Visit a pediatrician for a chest examination and assessment. Consult me on Practo for further guidance.
