I understand that this situation would be very hard on you. A break in a long standing relationship can bring about significant turmoil and difficulties for a person. Your difficulty in coping with this problem can be well understood and I completely empathize with you. My suggestion to you is that you should try and speak about your difficulties with friends or family members who you consider close to you, engaging in a hobby, being a friend to yourself and try to maintain calm, sticking to daily routine rather than shutting yourselves from the world, and please do remember that time is a great healer and you should provide yourselves with that time to heal emotionally. However you saying that you end up hurting yourself is worry some and I would suggest that if the above steps do not help you significantly, do not hesitate in seeking professional help from a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist. They would be able to help you tide over this emotional crisis. Hope this helps you.. Wishing you an early recovery...
