Stroke as you know refers to damage to a part of the brain cells due to a problem ( bleed/ no blood going to that part of brain). These damaged brain cells don't have the ability to grow back . So, once the damage is done, it's done. The brain then slowly attempts to allot this work to the nearby cells and the leftover cells in that damaged area which are still working and the patient recovers. Maybe in 6 months to a year to a couple of years..but rarely back to the normal self. Aggressive physiotherapy and tlc with good home care is needed for these kind of patients apart from a few drugs which can enhance brain performance.
Ideally speaking- ask your regular Consulting neurologist for a more expert opinion.
