Boil on buttocks

2020-01-07 20:25:02
I have developed a big boil on my buttocks and it has become quite painful to do day to day normal activities such as walking and sitting. It's been 2 days now since start, and there was a rupture yesterday with a bit of blood seeping through. However, the pain has increased post that and so has the inflammation. Is it serious and should I consult a doctor? If yes, would a dermatologist be the right specialist to consult or would it be someone with a different speciality? Thank you.

You must consult a surgeon to find out the reason for abcess and for further treatment.

Pain, swelling and tenderness are all signs of an infection. You should immediately go to a dermatologist before it spreads otherwise a surgical incision would be required to drain the pus.
