I am experiencing back pain at the lower part of spinal chord & X-ray says that I have 1- Narrowing of bilateral sacroiliac joint spaces with adjacent articular marginal scleroses s/o bilateral sacro-iliitis 2- Disc spaces reduction is suspected between L5& S1 segments. 3- Straightening of lumber lordosis. Please advice acoordingly. What is this marginal scleroses..? Is it something serious..? Incurable..?

Marginal sclerosis is nothing but increased bone density due to the Load on the sacroiliac joints. Due to this load there is more bone laid down and the bone appears denser. Lumbar lordosis is straightened due to various reasons which include must be spasm causing back pain. The back pain could all be coming from the sacroiliac joints and also due to the decreased disc space due to wear and tear. If you can discuss it with an Orthopaedic Surgeon or with a Rheumatologist, then doing a blood test for HLA B27 maybr worthwhile, to look for any possibility of Ankylosing Spondylitis. Hope this helps.
