Good morning Autologous stem cell transplant is well known therapy for relapsed lymphoma, relapsed promyelocytic leukemia. It is still upfront therapy for multiple myeloma. It is basically involves high dose chemotherapy followed by stem cell rescue to avoid marrow toxicity. It helps in controlling disease by drug therapy in maximum dose followed by administration of stem cells harvested from patient himself. Single most importany prerequisite for autologous stem cell transplant is complete disease control prior to it. It cost around 6 to 8 L rupees based on disease and center of therapy. Average admission is for 2 to 3 weeks for therapy. Pre procedure work up can be done in 1 weeks times. Risk of treatment related mortality depends on center. It can be minimum up to <5%. In indian set up most centers offering such therapy for <60 years of age. But well experienced centers are offering for patient up to 65 to 70 years of age.
